2026 SACE Art Show Excursion

26 Mar 2026

Last week, Year 11 Visual Art students visited Light Square Gallery, where they were inspired by exceptional Stage 2 Visual Arts work showcased in the 2026 SACE Art Show, with its diverse, high-quality artworks.

The exhibition featured a range of media, including sculpture, painting and digital works, highlighting strong conceptual exploration and high-level skills from 2025 graduates.

Our students were particularly excited by the variety of forms, including sculpture, wearable art and digital media. They were also impressed by the conceptual depth of artworks exploring complex, thoughtful and well-developed ideas and themes. In addition, the level of technique and the refinement of the works provided our students with models for highly refined technical skills and creative, sustained engagement in the work.

The supporting art folios exhibited also impressed our students, who noted the clear starting points, relevant process work and references to significant and influential artists.

Students’ written responses included:

  • "Folios had clear starting points, showing Artists that influenced them, with their process work and personal reflections"
  • "I have never seen work like this before, the depth of their work with strong meanings and a purpose"
  • "All of the work on display is well thought out, it resonates with the viewer through familiarity".

To sum up, for our students, the exhibition highlighted valuable, practical resources which can assist in their understanding of ways to develop their own artistic practices and research. We look forward to seeing how these insights influence their upcoming tasks.
