26 Book Challenge: Symphony of Stories
Please don’t forget to sign up in the library for this year-long challenge. With holidays fast approaching, now is the perfect time to visit the library to stock up on books. If you haven’t already, be sure to collect your alphabet collector card keyring from the library desk. While you are in the library, you can see some displays with books from the more challenging categories. Happy reading!
Writing Competitions
You may like to enter one of the following writing competitions:
- SAETA Young Writers Award:
Entries are open to all South Australian students from Reception to Year 12. Entries may be up to 1,000 words—free topic, poetry or prose. - What Matters writing competition:
What Matters? writing competition is currently open to school students in Years 5–12 from Australia. Responding to the simple question 'what matters?', entrants are free to express their views on any matter they care about—up to 600 words. Entries close on Friday 15 May 2026. Find out more...

Do you love to write? Join our Inklings writing group, which will start next term. Students in Years 7–12 are welcome. Click here if you would like to register your interest.
Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
If you are 14 and would like to commence the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, please make contact as soon as possible. Pop into room G68 for questions and help with individual goal setting. Alternatively, students can email at any time for support. Learn more here. If you have already registered and need help with anything at all, please reach out.

Upcoming Opportunities
National Youth Science Forum (NYSF)
Passionate Year 11 STEM students can apply for the 2027 Year 12 NYSF Program when applications open in April. This Program gives students who are about to start Year 12 a broader understanding of study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
In January 2027, the NYSF Year 12 Program will run two summer sessions at The Australian National University in Canberra and The University of Queensland.
