Our Year 7/8 knockout basketball teams represented Concordia brilliantly in Round 1 yesterday, with both teams displaying outstanding skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. Led by James Adcock, the boys' team was in fine form, defeating St Francis School 56–52 in a thrilling opening game before producing a dominant performance against Westminster School to win 78–34 and secure progression through to Round 2 of the knockout tournament.
Our girls' team, led by Laura Hodges, also showed tremendous resilience and teamwork. After a hard-fought opening loss to St Francis School 30–37, the girls responded with an incredible overtime victory against Faith Lutheran College, winning 41–39 with fantastic support from the Concordia crowd. Unfortunately, despite finishing with a win, the girls narrowly missed progressing through to the next round on for and against. It is shaping up to be a fantastic term of knockout sport ahead, so keep an eye out for more exciting results and achievements across the term.
