Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two students who recently represented Concordia at the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award, competing across two heats held at Legacy House.

This prestigious national competition celebrates young people’s ability to communicate with purpose while honouring the important work of the Legacy organisation, which supports over 30,000 families of veterans across Australia through the dedication of more than 3,000 volunteers.

As part of the competition, participants are invited to prepare a speech exploring one of Legacy’s core values and ideals. Benji (9JEGA) delivered a thought-provoking speech on the enduring power of mateship, while Sophia (10LTRA) shared a moving reflection on how the ANZAC biscuit continues to serve as a symbol of care, sacrifice and connection across generations.

Both students spoke with confidence, clarity and conviction, impressing the adjudicators with their insight, maturity and ability to connect with their audience. We are thrilled to announce that both Benji and Sophia have been selected as finalists and will join six other outstanding speakers from schools across South Australia to compete in the State Final in August.

26 Book Challenge

Students who are participating in this year’s challenge are reminded to visit the library to receive their alphabet collector cards as they complete books from specific categories. While there, check out the library display to support the challenge. Stock up on books for your school holiday reading. Challenge sheets will need to be submitted by Week 5 of Term 4.

Upcoming Events

We wish Keziah (11MNCG) all the best for Saturday evening as she competes as one of four senior speakers in the Rostrum Voice of Youth SA/NT final in the House of Assembly. We are so proud of you!

Good luck to our seven Year 10 Brain Bee students as they prepare for the State Final of the Australian Brain Bee Challenge to be held at Flinders University in the first week of Term 3.

We are excited to see the diverse range of entries that will be submitted in this year’s Oliphant Science Awards. From stem cells to troglobites, and from the mysteries of space to the science of strokes, our students have explored an extraordinary range of topics— extending their scientific curiosity while honing their communication skills through their entries. All registered projects will be submitted for judging very soon. To see the diverse range of entries from schools across South Australia, visit Open Day at Science Alive from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August.
