On Sunday 21 June, our Concordia Pedal Prix teams competed in Round 3 of the Pedal Prix Racing Series, joining more than 100 school teams from across Australia. With perfect sunny conditions throughout the day, our five teams delivered consistent performances, impressive lap times and excellent results.
All teams were well organised and represented the College with distinction, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, clean racing and strong teamwork. Our Middle School team, Raptor, enjoyed a particularly successful race, charging through the field in the final 90 minutes to secure an impressive third-place podium finish. The team crossed the line on the same lap as the second-place team in the highly competitive S2 category. Our other teams also performed strongly, with Concorde finishing eighth in a talented Middle School field.
Across the program, teams have shown significant improvement this season, reflecting the benefits of the enhanced fitness training program introduced on Tuesday mornings.
Meanwhile, for St Peters Campus students, this was the first Pedal Prix race of the year. After a somewhat interrupted lead-up to the race due to weather and the school musical, the eight students from Years 5 and 6 braved the chilly winter weather morning, ready to race. Each rider took their turn demonstrating their pedaling and driving skills among a large group of competitive schools. Our 'Blue Saint' team worked brilliantly, showing cooperation and determination in overcoming challenges, including a loose chain, a rollover on the main straight, and 30 minutes of rain at the end of the race.
A huge thank you to our dedicated families, volunteers and staff members who supported the event in a variety of roles throughout the day. Their commitment and enthusiasm helped make the race day a memorable and successful experience for everyone involved.
We look forward to our next challenge on Saturday 1 August, when our teams head to Tailem Bend to compete in an exciting eight-hour endurance race.
