Senior Drama Productions

25 June 2026

Congratulations to both the Year 12 and Year 11 Drama classes on their group productions this term.

Year 12 Drama

Over two nights, Year 12 Drama students performed Dan Giovannani’s fast-paced, interlocking SLAP BANG KISS in the round, with audiences on all sides. Spectators were moved by the sheer number of characters the three performers were required to play, and the skill of the designers in navigating audience members all around the stage. Following three young people’s different approach to activism and resistance, reviewer David Smith remarked on the “...bold piece of theatre. It challenged the skills and focus of the cast on a number of levels. They met the challenges and in turn successfully challenged us to confront significant social and moral questions.” Chapeau to the Year 12 class!

You can see the Theatre Association’s full review of the performance here.

Year 11 Drama

Year 11 students were not to be outshone, performing brand-new plays from Australian Theatre for Young People in Intersection: Orbit. Sold-out audiences were immersed in three completely different worlds, made entirely by students. Each student theatre company featured a student director, student designers and a set of performers, with the company making all artistic decisions and factoring this into a determined budget. Audience members grappled with the nature of truth and memory in Driving Everywhere and Nowhere at Once, laughed along with the black comedy of What Would Brian Cox Do? and delved into the ethereal romance of Begin to Glow. Amid shining praise from external reviewers, each company must be commended in imagining and staging cutting-edge theatre—watch this space to see whether some companies are selected to debut the work at the statewide Intersection Festival performance in August!
