Over the past two weeks, award-winning children’s and young adult author Adam Cece has been at Concordia College running Writer’s Workshops with students at our Middle and Senior School Campus and at our St Peters Campus. Every Year 7 and 8 student has had three sessions with Adam—an author talk and two extensive Writer’s Workshops to help improve their creative writing skills.
It has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from an industry expert. Adam has shared tips of the trade that he has honed over several years as an author and through his Teen Writer’s Workshops. Strategies included: adding a twist, how to develop characters, overcoming writer’s block, sticking with it, writing for at least 15 minutes every day, use of dialogue and word play.
We are extremely grateful to Adam for generously sharing his passion, knowledge and craft. Adam’s latest young adult book “The Locked Room” is one of the 2026 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Notable Books.
