On Wednesday 5 August, the Year 12 Legal Studies classes celebrated 125 years of the Australian Constitution—125 and a half years after Federation, and 126 years and one month to the day since the Australian Constitution Act was passed by the UK Parliament. Given the links to the UK, we enjoyed tea and scones after singing Happy Birthday to the Constitution. Birthday cake and some uniquely Australian treats were also on offer. The event gave us a chance to reflect on the development and importance of the Constitution and Federation, and the dignity that the Constitution affords.
