Term 3 always seems to arrive with a certain energy. It’s a busy term—assessments, events, leadership responsibilities, and the steady hum of daily school life. It’s also our last term as a full College Community before our Year 12s step into their final weeks with us in Term 4. That reality brings both excitement and a little poignancy.
In the rush of this season, it’s easy to forget the strength of the community around us. We brush off offers of help because we’re “fine”, we push through tasks alone because it feels quicker, and sometimes, we forget to look up and notice who might need a hand themselves.
However, we always find our way back to each other. Sometimes it’s a gentle reminder that we can’t do everything on our own. Sometimes it’s seeing someone else who needs support and realising we have something to offer. These moments pull us back into connection, into grace, back into a shared understanding that we are better together.
We see this every day. We see it in our Student Leaders, who create activities that bring year levels together, even when their own schedules are full. We see it in our Action Leaders, who step in to help with school events despite having assessments of their own. We see it when students notice a lost family and walk them to where they need to be. We see it when teachers sit beside a student who is struggling, offering time, patience and encouragement.
These aren’t grand gestures. They’re the small, consistent acts that shape our culture. They’re the daily expressions of grace and care that remind us what it means to belong to a community like ours.
As we move towards the final stretch of the year, especially for our Year 12s, the coming weeks will be busy, emotional and full of milestones. I encourage all of us to keep leaning into these moments. The coming weeks will also be filled with opportunities to support one another, celebrate our students, and stay connected as one College community.
