Each Friday lunchtime this year, many students have gathered in the YBR to take part in Chess Club. Their games have provided them with opportunities to develop their chess skills and make new friends, including from other year levels.

Nine students have also chosen to take on the challenge of playing inter-school chess in the SA Junior Chess League Secondary School Division 2 competition. We are now halfway through the competition season, and both teams are ranked equal 11th place out of 36 teams. This is an excellent result, particularly given that the majority of our competitors this year are new to the secondary school inter-school competition.
