Supporting Your Year 12 Student Through Term 3

Term 3 is often one of the most demanding periods of the Year 12 journey. As assessment deadlines approach and students begin thinking about final exams and life beyond school, it's normal for stress levels to increase—for both students and parents.

One of the most helpful things parents can do during this time is to focus on connection over performance. While it's natural to ask about study and results, taking time to check in about how your young person is feeling can make a significant difference. Encouraging regular breaks, healthy sleep, balanced routines, and reminding them that their worth extends beyond their ATAR can help reduce pressure and build resilience.

If your child is finding the demands of Year 12 overwhelming, early support can make a meaningful difference.

Upward Psychology offers:

  • Psychological assessments for students requiring evidence to support applications for SACE special provisions and examination accommodations.
  • Psychological intervention to help students manage:
    • Stress and exam anxiety
    • Motivation and procrastination
    • Emotional regulation
    • Confidence and coping skills
    • General wellbeing and guidance regarding life after school

We have two psychologists working solely with the Concordia College community on Mondays and Tuesdays in Term 3. Natalie Muldoon and David Scholz work collaboratively with students and families to develop practical strategies that support both academic success and emotional wellbeing during this important stage of life.

In addition to supporting senior students, we provide psychological assessment and intervention for children and adolescents across all year levels, helping with anxiety, emotional regulation, learning differences, behavioural concerns, school transitions, social challenges, and overall wellbeing.
