Our Year 12 Media students recently took their learning beyond the classroom, travelling to the picturesque township of Willunga to create professional promotional photography and video content for a range of local businesses and tourism venues.
Working in small production teams, students applied the skills they have developed throughout the year to plan, film and photograph authentic marketing content. The excursion provided an invaluable opportunity to work with real clients, respond to creative briefs and produce media designed for genuine promotional purposes, an experience that mirrors the expectations of the creative industries.
The day proved to be a tremendous success, with students producing an impressive collection of high-quality images and promotional videos that showcased the unique character and charm of the township.
A particular highlight came after the excursion when one of the students' photographs, captured by Cameron (12CFIL) and Laura (12CFIL), was selected by ‘Tread Lightly’ for use in The Advertiser newspaper to promote their business. Having their work published in a major newspaper is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the exceptional standard of work being produced by our students.
Experiences such as these allow students to build technical expertise while developing essential workplace skills including communication, collaboration, problem-solving and client engagement. We are incredibly proud of the professionalism and creativity displayed throughout the project and grateful to the Willunga businesses for providing such an authentic learning opportunity.
