St John’s Campus Year 4 Term 3 Zoo Excursions

17 Sept 2026

This term the Year 4 students have enjoyed multiple visits to Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo. They have developed deep research skills, investigating a chosen animal at the zoo and exploring many interrelated topics about the animal (its habitat, adaptations, and threats to survival, to name a few). Students have observed their animals, taken photos using media arts skills, critically considered new information and practised information literacy skills. They have also considered the existence of their animals within a larger interconnected ecosystem.

This learning has connected with our transdisciplinary Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry, with the Central Idea “Environments, people and other living things are interconnected and impact each other in different ways.” We hope the students have enjoyed learning more about the world around them while exploring the zoos and the fascinating animals within them.
