As part of their Earth and Environmental Science studies, Stage 1 students engaged in a fossil identification workshop, conducted by Dr Felicity Coutts, a professor in Ediacaran Palaeontology at Flinders University. Students were guided through a variety of fossil stations, assessing materials for age, texture, composition and formation. This unit has allowed students to explore the literal origins of the universe and matter, including the Miller-Urey Lightening Theory and Endosymbiotic creation. A wonderful way for students to reconnect with their childhood fossil and dinosaur obsessions!
