St Peters Campus has been delighted to welcome 17 first-year Primary Education students from Flinders University as part of their university studies. Over four Friday mornings, from 8.30am to 10.30am, the pre-service teachers have been experiencing the day-to-day life of a Primary School and developing a deeper understanding of what teaching and learning look like in practice.
By spending time in our classrooms, observing our teachers and interacting with students, they are gaining valuable insight into the relationships, planning, flexibility and enthusiasm involved in primary education. These practical experiences also give them an opportunity to consider whether primary teaching is the pathway they would like to pursue.
Our visiting students have embraced the spirit of the St Peters Campus community. They even accepted the challenge to dress up for Book Week and enthusiastically joined our students and staff for the parade with the ELC on Friday 28 August. It was wonderful to see them becoming involved in such a joyful celebration and experiencing the strong sense of connection that exists across our campus.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have these 17 aspiring educators learning alongside us and seeing all that St Peters Campus has to offer. We hope their four mornings with us will inspire and encourage them as they take the first steps in their studies and possible future careers in education.
We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming them to our campus and sharing these valuable learning experiences with them.
