Concordia College has a House system of four houses which compete in extra-curricular sporting activities throughout the year: Cheltenham (green), Highgate (navy), Malvern (yellow) and Winchester (red).
At the St John’s Campus, the four Houses compete for the House Shield at Sports Day in Term 1. The St John’s Campus Sports Day is held on the College oval and students participate in a broad range of events, from novelty events to traditional races, relays and other track and field events. The House Shield is presented to the House Captains of the winning team at the end of the day’s competition.
At the Concordia Campus, students participate in a Sports Day in Term 1, a Swimming Carnival in Term 4 and lunchtime sports activities during the year.
Lunchtime house sport in Term 1 is based around athletics in preparation for Sports Day later in the term, Term 2 is year level netball and Term 3 is year level volleyball.
Points are awarded to houses based on their performances for each activity and for participation in Sports Day and Swimming Carnival activities. The House Shield is presented at the end of the year at an Assembly run by House Captains to the overall winning House.
The House System provides great opportunity to develop student leadership. Each house has two Year 12 Captains and two Deputy Captains. In addition, House Leaders in each age group assist the Year 12 House Captains and Staff Coordinators with the important responsibilities of running the House System.
