Pedal Prix Victoria Park Race 2

On Sunday 17 June, 68 students from Years 7-11 competed in the 6-hour school’s Pedal Prix race at Victoria Park in Adelaide. The school had five teams competing across all three age categories throughout the day making us one of the biggest schools competing in the competition. Students have been training hard since the beginning of the term, developing fitness through after school fitness sessions and track trainings on Sunday afternoons in preparation for this race. Rain threatened all day to spoil what was a near perfect day for racing, with no major racing incidents resulting in all teams achieving some great overall results, including a 4th in the Middle Schools category. All students represented the College professionally and demonstrated a high level of team work and spirit throughout the day. A big thank you to all the staff and parents who assisted in range of roles in preparation for the race and on the day. The Concordia Racing team are now working towards competing in their next 6-hour event in Adelaide on 29 July.

State Cross Country Trials

Congratulations to the students who have competed in the various cross-country carnivals in recent weeks.

Dylan Bosch AIAt the SAPSASA district trials on Friday 25 May, seven competitors were selected from our Year 4-7 team to compete at State Day at Oakbank on Thursday 7 June. Well done to our Year 7 students Oliver M 7MGA and Ava B 7SSPA who competed for Adelaide South East at State Day.

Our Concordia Year 8-12 team also had eight competitors at the Cross-Country State day selection trials on Thursday 7 June. It was impressive to watch Marco E 10NNO in the U16 boys finished a tough race fourth and Dylan B 12SBAB must be congratulated for his outstanding run in the Open boys to finish third and win the bronze medal and State Team selection.

Year 7 Sports and SAPSASA Coordinator

Crosscountry1 AIWell done to Luke P 4W and Jett H 4R on participating in the State Cross Country Trials. Unfortunately, Sophie K 4R was unable to run due to an injury. The boys did a fantastic job and should be congratulated on making it through to the State Championships. Jett finished 95 and Luke came 101 out of 200 plus runners. Jett states “it was lots of fun as there were a number of hills we could run up and down. As well as dodging all the sticks that were on the track”. Luke says "it was a good experience and it was fun to run against other students from a number of different schools”. We are now looking forward to SAPSASA Cross Country next year.

Year 10 Knockout Netball

On the 7 June, the Year 10 Knockout Netball team competed in the first round of the competition at Saint Peters Girls School. The first game saw them come up against Aberfoyle Park. The girls came away with a win, defeating Aberfoyle Park 38-24. The next game was a tough match against Saint Peters Girls; the first half was nearly goal for goal. Concordia held on strong and gradually increased our lead, finishing the game winning 36-26. The Year 10 girls wholeheartedly played as a unit and fought hard all day. We will now move on to the second round of the Knockout competition.
