Waverley International Netball Championship 2018

In the first week of the school holidays Concordia College sent two netball teams to compete in the Waverley International Netball tournament, held in Glen Waverley - Jells Park Melbourne.

Our opposition came from all over Australia including QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS, SA and also the international teams from New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which made the competition diverse with the different styles of play.

The U15 team played 13 games in three days to be ranked 6th going into the finals. The girls played two finals games winning the first final and then going down by three in the final game to be ranked 6th out of the 18 teams.

The Senior team played nine games in three days and two finals games to be ranked 8th out of 32 teams.

It was a successful and entertaining week with teams enjoying not only the netball but the putt putt, movies, shopping and more shopping. The highlight was the hot chocolate and wedges after the St Kilda beach icy-cold swim.

Congratulations to both teams on representing Concordia College so impressively. The coaches and managers were extremely proud of the positive approach and exemplary attitudes both on and off the courts.

Pedal Prix - Race 3 Wrap-up

On Sunday, 29 July, the school Pedal Prix team competed in its third six-hour race of the season at Victoria Park. All 68 students involved have been training regularly ahead of this event to try and improve upon the excellent results achieved in earlier rounds this year. The clear weather and very clean racing from all our teams resulted in little time spent off the track for the day. We achieved some excellent results, with four out of our five teams finishing in the top ten of their respective categories. Highlights from the day included all our teams improving upon the number of laps completed from the previous race in Term 2 and seeing teams significantly improve on the speediness of their rider changeovers.

A big thank you to all the staff and parents who assisted with bike repairs, catering, towing and support in the lead up to the event. The school team is now working towards competing in the final 24-hour event of the season at Murray Bridge at the end of Week 9.

Race 3 Results:
Team Category Position Laps
Harmony 3 6th 171
Concorde 2 5th 163
Matrix 2 9th 155
Shockwave 2 12th 147
Illuminate 1 7th 127
