Over 200 guests attended the recent Harmony in the Chapel concert on Monday 7 August. Students in the String Ensemble and Orchestra entertained the audience with favourites such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean' by Hans Zimmer, and 'On Pilgrim’s Road' by J.S. Bishop. Thank you once again to Friends of Music for providing guests with a lovely afternoon tea. We were very pleased to welcome COCA 70+ members, as well as other community groups to the College for this event.
On the weekend of 12-13 August, ten Concordia students were fortunate to be involved in two days of choir workshops and performances with music arranging legend Kirby Shaw. In Australia for a week of workshops, USA based Shaw revolutionized choral music in the early '80s, and still continues to inspire generations of choristers across the globe. In addition to being led by Kirby through a number of his arrangements, the weekend concluded with an outstanding concert on the Sunday night in St Peter’s Girls Performing Arts Centre, involving all choirs and participants. Concordia Music staff also participated in a three-hour Choir Directors' workshop with Kirby on the weekend, and it was a joyous reminder of the positive power music can have in our communities.
The students involved were: Anne 9SBR, Imogen 7RHO, Emma 8VNT, Eva 8VNT, Claudia 8JCA, Angus 9SWH, Hanuelle 8EJO, Lachlan 11CFI, Jasmine 8EJO and Bailey 9SWH.
