On Wednesday 9 August, Concordia College participated in the SAPSASA Basketball Champions competition at Marion Stadium. We entered four teams; Year 7 boys, Year 7 girls, Year 6 boys and Year 6 girls. In a very competitive and highly-skilled competition there were many highlights for all teams. The challenge of the day was the “show down” games at 1.10pm when the two girls teams from Concordia played against each other and the two boys teams played against each other. The Year 6 girls held out the Year 7 girls in a tight game to win while the Year 7 boys defeated our very competitive Year 6 team. The players must be commended on their sportspersonship and the positive way in which they represented the College. The final standings of our teams were:
- Year 7 boys - 1st
- Year 6 boys - 2nd
- Year 6 girls - 3rd
- Year 7 girls - 5th
The Year 7 boys team were undefeated for the day which enables them to go through to the State Final Day on 21 September. We wish the boys every success in the finals.
Congratulations to all of the players in each of the teams and a big thank you to the coaches; James 12HRO, James 12NFLE, Emma 11MBR, Taylor 11RGO, Sarah 11JLE, and Jason Bruss.
Congratulations to the 1st XVIII football team on winning this year's Grand Final in the Southern Zones Wednesday night competition held on 16 August. It was a great finish to an outstanding season, with each team member contributing to the win against Unley High, making Concordia back-to-back premiers in 2016 and 2017. The final score of 75 to 24 reflected the strong effort maintained by the mighty Concordia Hawks throughout the game.
James 11LMA and Sam 12RSO led the goal scoring for Concordia with three goals and two goals respectively.
Best players: James 11LMA, Bailey 12ABR, Brad 11JWE, Charlie 12HRO, Tom 12SBU, Oli 11JLE and Sean 11MBR.
