Operation Christmas Child

It’s that time of year again! We have boxes galore to fill either as families or in home classes to bring joy to kids over in South-East Asia. Pick one up from outside Jason’s office or the Chapel foyer. These boxes are likely to be the only gift each child ever receives! So we encourage all boxes to be filled to the brim! Ideas for gifts can be found here.

40 Hour Famine

A fantastic effort from the 30 students and staff who participated in the 40 Hour Famine backpack challenge, as we managed to raise $4,011!

This places us in 70th position in the Australia-wide school competition; a great effort! After accepting the challenge, students lived out of their backpack for 40 hours to experience just a bit of what life is like for a refugee or displaced person. “Globally, there are more than 65.5 million people who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict; with more than half of them children.”

Legacy Week

“Legacy Week is the annual national appeal to raise awareness and funds for the families of our incapacitated and deceased Veterans.”

A group of seven Year 9 Ambassadors helped volunteers from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to collect money towards the work of Legacy. Stationed at Unley Shopping Centre, students heard a touching story of how the death of one colleague had deeply affected that person's family, as well as the volunteers from the ADF. The funds that are raised assist approximately 65,000 widowers and 1,800 children and people with disabilities Australia-wide, providing essential services such as counselling, special housing, medical, advocacy and social support.
