SAPSASA Athletics Day

Our SAPSASA athletics team (Years 4 to 7) competed at the Adelaide South East District on Monday. The excited group of approximately 45 athletes headed to SA Athletics Stadium to compete in the Adelaide South East District Athletics day. There were many outstanding individual efforts and our relay results were even more impressive. No batons were dropped and five teams finish in the top three. Our athletics team finished third overall out of the nine competing schools.

Thank you to all the athletes who utilised the training sessions and to Mr Watkins for organising for the team to have access to high caliber coaches.

A big thank you must also go to the Year 9 students who were officials at events on the day. The feedback has once again been very positive from the competing schools highlighting our students’ maturity and confidence in leadership roles.

Congratulations to the following students who qualified for Metropolitan State Day to be held on Tuesday, 25 September:

Marielle Burns (100m and 4 x 100 Relay)
Harry King (Discus)
Bailey Kat (800m)

Year 10 Knockout Netball

The Year 10 girls Knockout netball team successfully made it through the first two rounds of the competition to secure a spot in the State finals held last month. Our first game saw us coming up against a strong Westminster side. It was a well fought game but unfortunately Westminster came out on top with a score of 15-22. We then faced Trinity in our second game of the day. The game was very close and went goal for goal. When the whistle finally blew we were up by one goal 28-27. All teams in our pool won and lost one game meaning we were tied for points. The ladder came down to percentage, placing us 3rd in our pool. Our last game of the day was against Blackwood in the battle for 5th/6th. It was a slow start, but we continued to play hard and fought it out, winning 34-31. Our team came 5th in the Statewide Knockout competition which is an amazing achievement. The girls all played well and can be very proud of their efforts.
