Pedal Prix 24 Hour Race

The Concordia Pedal Prix team recently participated in the 24-hour race at Murray Bridge, the final race of the 2017 season. Sixty three students in five teams competed against 200 other teams from across Australia in the biggest event of its kind in the world, seeing over 15,000 people in attendance. Strong winds delayed the start of the race before teams headed out on the 1.7km track for some very intensive racing in tough conditions.

All teams worked well to keep their trikes circulating for the duration of the race and experienced much success this year on the track with team Concorde seeing the many hours of training coming to fruition to comfortably finish on the podium in 3rd position. Early bike issues with team Harmony saw them lose vital time in the first hour of the race, finishing 4th. Team Matrix continued their consistent form to successfully finish 9th in a very competitive category, while team Illuminate, with a newly rebuilt trike, had their most successful race of the season. Our Year 6/7 team worked together well to keep their bike in one piece, completing another massive and exciting season of racing.

A big thank you to all the parents who assisted with maintaining bikes, catering, transportation and helping throughout the season. A big thank you also to our staff; Roz Crossing, Jennie Finch, Amy Martin, Jason Kupke and Kellie Anne Wanless, for their support with fitness training after school and team managing at events.

Final Results:

Shockwave (Category 1) – 20th - 250 Laps
Illuminate (Category 2) – 20th - 304 Laps
Matrix (Category 2) – 9th - 331 Laps
Concorde (Category 2) – 3rd -  364 Laps
Harmony (Category 3) – 4th - 388 Laps
