Opening of the Nautilus Centre

On Monday, 30 October we celebrated an important milestone in the College’s history with the official opening and dedication of the Nautilus Centre, a magnificent new learning facility for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM).

After a wet and windy start to the day, contingency plans were quickly enacted and the Opening Ceremony / Service relocated from the Quadrangle to the Chapel where Concordia Campus staff and students were joined by around 250 guests.

We were honoured to welcome His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC, Governor of South Australia, who officially opened the new building; Reverend David Altus who dedicated the new facility; Uncle Michael O’Brien who delivered a Welcome to Country; past and present Concordia families; and other guests from the wider College community including university representatives, architects and builders, Principals and staff from other schools, and friends of the College.

After the opening ceremony, staff, students and guests made their way across to the Nautilus Centre for the cutting of the ribbon before visitors had the opportunity to see the new facilities for themselves on a tour of the building.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this exciting project which marks the start of a new era in Science and Art education at Concordia College. You can find out more about the new Nautilus Centre here.

What a Wonderful World - Gala Ball

Over 400 guests - past and present families, staff, old collegians and friends of Concordia - joined us on Saturday, 4 November at the Adelaide Convention Centre for the 2017 Concordia Gala Ball: 'What a Wonderful World', hosted by the amazing Briony Hume.

After drinks on the terrace and a performance by the Concordia String Quartet, guests made their way into the magical setting of the Panorama Ballroom for dinner, before dancing the night away to Adelaide show band, Blackjack. Entertainment included a breathtaking opening performance of the Louis Armstrong classic 'What a Wonderful World' by Year 3 student Amali and Year 10 student Finn set to video, which showed some of the amazing opportunities our students enjoy, as well as a fond farewell to retiring Concordia Campus Principal, Lester Saegenschnitter. Many guests lingered late into the night at this wonderful community celebration.

An incredible $50,000 was raised on the night, which will support the purchase of specialised STEAM equipment for the newly opened Nautilus Centre. We are sincerely grateful to our major sponsors and to our donors for their generosity, to our many volunteers who supported this event, to our Table Captains and to our guests who helped make the evening such a success. It was fantastic to see this event so well supported by our community, including many guests from both St John's Campus and Concordia Campus. Thank you!

We are currently sorting through our photos from the event and hope to make a selection of images available to attendees soon.

Fund My Neighbourhood - Voting Closing Soon!

Voting for our project as part of the Fund My Neighbourhood program will close at 5pm on Monday 20 November. If you haven't yet had a chance to vote for three to five projects, please visit the website and register to vote today! Projects will be funded based on the number of votes received from the community and each person can vote for three to five shortlisted projects within a 5km radius of the postcode used during the registration process.

Our goal is to see the community sport zone and walkway between the oval and the tennis courts enhanced with improved seating, better shelter from the elements, smart lighting and improved access for the many students, staff, sporting groups and community members who use the space.

We need as many members of the general public to vote as possible and it only takes a few minutes, so please vote to see this idea become a reality.
