One of COCA’s aims is to encourage groups of Old Collegians to meet together and a great way for this to happen is for interested people to be part of sporting or other special interest groups under the COCA banner. COCA has a number of existing groups that are open to all.
Old Collegians’ Cricket Team
Founded in 1981 and reformed in 1999, the Concordia Old Collegians Cricket Club offers an opportunity for Old Concordians to play and socialise in a positive, supportive atmosphere. The club trains and plays at the College grounds, and currently fields three teams that play each Saturday afternoon in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association.
New players are always welcome to come out to a Tuesday or Thursday training, and supporters to stop by the Oval on a Saturday and have a look at the game. For more information (including match results), visit www.concordiacricket.com.au or contact the Club President, Tim Kupke ('99).
Each year during the last week of Winter Sport, we invite Old Concordians who played basketball and soccer during their time at Concordia to test their mettle against the College’s Open A teams. It is a chance to get together with old school mates over a BBQ, reflect on the glory days, and maybe even re-live a few of them!
COCA Big Band
The COCA Big Band is a recently formed jazz ensemble comprising Concordia Old Concordians interested in a musical opportunity as part of the school community.
The Band rehearses regularly on weekday evenings during the school term on the College campus, with a variety of relaxed and formal performance opportunities throughout the year. For an expression of interest or more information, contact Chris Symons ('12) or Rachael Brice ('13) with your name, instrument and a brief summary of your musical experience.
The COCA Choir is one of our newest interest groups. Please contact Hannah Homburg (’17) if you are interested in joining the choir.
COCA Flute Quartet
The COCA Flute Quartet have performed at a couple of COCA events to date and are looking forward to further performance opportunities. For more information about this group, please contact Hannah Lewis ('13).
Old Concordians Soccer Club
The Old Concordians Soccer Club is set to commence its inaugural season in 2019, with two teams playing in the Collegiate Soccer League on Saturday afternoons from April until September. Trainings will be held on Monday nights at Pasadena High School on Daws Road, and home games will be at the Adelaide Lutheran grounds on the corner of South Terrace and Goodwood Road. Fees will be $250 which will include registration to the league and a playing strip. The Old Concordians Soccer Club will be a great way to continue playing soccer whilst also maintaining connection with your peers after graduating from the College. Old Concordians of any ability are welcome.
