Introducing Drama’s Artist in Residence

We are excited to announce that Ashton Malcolm will be Drama’s inaugural Artist in Residence for Semester 2, 2026!

Ashton Malcolm is a Kaurna Country-based actor, theatremaker and creative facilitator whose work spans theatre, film and performance art. Her performance credits include productions with the Sydney Theatre Company, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Windmill Theatre, Patch Theatre, Brink Productions and Restless Dance Theatre.

As a proud child of teachers, Ashton has always had a passion for teaching and loves working with students to build their creativity, confidence and performance skills. She is honoured to be our first Artist in Residence for Drama, and to be working with the State Theatre Company of South Australia to more formally link students to professional industry.

Ashton loves the beach, sleeping in and cheese platters for dinner. She is scared of heights, which is quite ironic given how tall she is. Read more about Ashton here.

As Artist in Residence, Ashton will work with Senior Drama students in Years 10–12 across Term 3 as they prepare for the 48 Hour Film Project, State Theatre Young Theatremakers Award and Stage 2 external SACE assessments.
